BROKEN and TRI-COLORED: All Broken and Tri-Colored animals
are to have a balanced nose marking (No preference given for a butterfly over
evenly balanced nose spots.), a colored eye marking around each eye, and colored
ears. The body color is to be evenly distributed in a potted, patched, or
blanket pattern. Preference is to be given to an evenly balanced pattern.
The feet are to be pure white. Color spots are permissible on the legs, as
are teat spots and other colored spots in the genital area. The total amount
of coloration on a Broken patterned animal is preferred to not cover less
than 10% or more than 70% of the entire animal.
Faults: Unbalanced nose marking; white on one or both ears; unbalanced
body markings; one or more colored toenails; scattered white hairs in the
colored markings.
Disqualifications from Competition - Disqualify for absence of a colored
nose marking, complete absence of color on either ear, absence of color around
either eye; eye color other than called for under respective color descriptions;
foreign colored spots. Disqualify for less than 10% pattern. Do not disqualify
for white spot(s) in colored sections.
BROKEN: Broken consists of any recognized breed variety
color in conjunction
with white. Toenails are preferred to be white. Do not disqualify for mismatched
or colored toenails. The eye color is to correspond with the eye color specified
under the respective solid colored varieties.
TRI-COLORED: Tri-color consists of white in conjunction
with one of the
following color combinations of two colors: Dense Black and Golden Orange,
Blue and Golden Fawn, dark Chocolate Brown and Golden Orange, or Lilac
and Golden Fawn. The colors are to be evenly distributed Toenails should be
white. Eyes - Brown in Black and Chocolate varieties; Blue-gray in Blue and
Lilac varieties.
OTTER: Black, Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac compete together. The surface
color of the head, outside of the ears, front of fore feet, outside of the
hind feet, and the top and sides of the body are to be of the surface and
undercolor as described in the respective self varieties. The Black and Chocolate
animals will have orange markings and ticking color, while the Blue and Lilac
animals will have fawn marking and ticking color. The belly, nostrils, eyes
circles, jowls, underside of the tail, inside of the ears, back of the fore
feet and the inside of the hind feet and legs are to be creamy white, highlighted
by an orange or fawn marking as it meets the self color of the body. The undercolor
of the belly is to be gray. The triangle and the collar are to be orange or
fawn. Prominent orange or fawn ticking is to be evenly distributed around
the chest, sides, and lower hindquarters. The eye color is to be as described
in the respective self varieties.
Faults: Fault animals with mealiness on the ears, head, or body; or faded
or indistinct markings.
SABLE MARTEN: The surface color of the head, outside of the ears, back,
outside of the legs, and the top of the tail is to be a rich sepia brown with
a slightly lighter undercolor. The surface color will fade to a lighter sepia
on the sides and chest. All blending of color is to be gradual and free from
blotches and streaks. The nostrils, eye circles, jowls, inside of ears, triangle,
collar, back of fore feet, inside of the hind feet and legs, belly, and the
underside of the tail are to silver-white in color. Prominent silver-white
guard hairs are to be evenly distributed around the chest, sides and lower
hindquarters. Eyes - Brown.
Faults: Fault animals that have streaks, blotches or poor color blending.
Mealiness on the head, ears, or body is undesirable. Animals that are too
light or too dark are to be faulted. Scattered white hairs or the lack of
darker color in the loin area is a fault.
SILVER MARTEN: Black, Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac compete together.
The surface color of the head, outside of the ears, front of the fore feet,
outside of the hind feet, and the top and sides of the body are to be of the
surface and undercolor as described in the respective self varieties. The
nostrils, eye circles, jowls, inside of the ears, triangle, collar, back of
the fore feet, inside of the hind feet and legs, belly, and underside of the
tail are to be silver-white in color. Prominent silver-white guard hairs are
to be evenly distributed around the chest, sides, and lower hindquarters.
The eye color is to be as described in the respective self varieties.
Faults: Fault animals with mealiness on the ears, head or body. Scattered
white hairs or indistinct markings are a fault.
SMOKE PEARL MARTEN: The surface color of the head, outside
of the ears, back, outside of the legs, and the top of the tail are to be
a rich smoke gray with a slightly lighter undercolor. The surface will fade
to a lighter pearl gray on the sides and chest. All blending of color is to
be gradual and free from blotches and streaks. The nostrils, eye circles,
jowls, inside of the ears, and triangle, collar, back of the fore feet, inside
of the hind feet and legs, belly, and the underside of the tail are to be
silver-white in color. Prominent silver-white guard hairs are to be evenly
distributed, around the chest, sides and lower hindquarters. Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals that have streaks, blotches, or poor color blending.
Mealiness on the head, ears, or body is undesirable. Animals that are too
light or too dark are to be faulted. Scattered white hairs, or lack of darker
color in the loin area is a fault.
TANS: Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac compete together. The head,
outside of the ears, front of the fore feet, outside of the hind feet, and
the tops and sides of the body are to be of the surface and undercolor as
described in the respective self varieties. The nostrils, eye circles, jowls,
inside of the ears, triangle, collar, back of the fore feet, inside of the
hind feet and legs, chest, belly, and underside of the tail are to be a rich,
fiery reddish tan color. The color is to carry all the way to the skin in
these areas. Prominent fiery, reddish tan guard hairs are to be evenly distributed
around the sides and lower hindquarters. The eye color is to be as described
in the respective self varieties.
Faults: Fault animals with indistinct divisions of color and mealiness
or brindling on the head and body. Pale tan color on the belly or underside
of the tail is undesirable.
Disqualifiactions from Competition - Disqualify an animal for slate-blue
undercolor on the belly.
SILVER/SILVER FOX (Black, Blue, Brown or Fawn basic colors.): The basic
surface color is to be evenly silvered over the entire body with white or
white tipped hairs. Silvering is to be distinct, sharp, bright and evenly
distributed throughout. Evenness of silvering is desired. Eyes - Black, Brown
and Fawn to be Brown. Blue to be Blue-gray.
STEEL (Gold or Silver Tipping) (Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac,
Sable, or Smoke Pearl basic color.): The entire body is to be of the basic
color description, with color running as deep as possible. Coat is to be interspersed
with a moderate amount of either gold or silver tipping, as is appropriate
for the variety. The ticking is to forma uniform steel color over the entire
body without intermediate gold or silver banding. Underside of the tail and
belly are to match body color as closely as possible, but lighter color is
permissible. Eyes - Black, Chocolate, and Sable to be Brown. Blue, Lilac,
and Smoke Pearl to be Blue-gray.
Faults: Stray white hairs; brassy, brownish or yellowish tint; body color
too dark due to insufficient gold or silver tipping; solid color patches without
ticking; white belly color; slight ring color on the lower part of the body.
FROSTED PEARL (Black, Blue, Chocolate, or Lilac shading color.): Color
is to be a light pearl, carried to the skin, and shaded with a delicate tint
of the appropriate shading color. Color is to be evenly distributed over the
entire body, except for the belly, which shall be pearl. Slightly darker tint
of the points is permissible. Color is to carry enough tint so as to appear
frosty. Eyes - Brown or Blue-Gray.
Faults: Poor distribution of tiny; patchy appearance; dark tint on the
points.
CHINCHILLA (Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Sable, or Smoke Pearl basic
colors.): A sparkling blend of the basic color and pearl. The undercolor
is to match the basic color at the base of the hair shaft. Intermediate band
is to be pearl to off white. (Base color to be definatelywide than intermediate
portion.) The upper portion is to be a very narrow band of basic coloration,
above this, a very light band, brightly ticked with guard hairs of the basic
coloration. Ticking may be wavy or even. Neck fur is lighter in color than
the body, but strictly confined to the nape. Chest is to be lightly ticked
with a uniform shade of pearl, slightly lighter than the body. They body color
is to extend as far down the sides as possible. Belly color, next to skin,
may be white or carry the basic coloration. Surface color is to be white.
Eyes circles are to be well defined, narrow, and light pearl in color. Ears
are to be laced with basic color. Under side of the tail is to be white, with
top of the tail matching body color. Eyes - Blue-gray or Brown.
Faults: Salt and pepper appearance; faded undercolor; cloudy or smoky ring
color.
CHOCOLATE: The surface color is to be rich chocolate over the entire
animal and extending well down the hair shaft. The undercolor is to be a dove-gray.
Eyes - Brown.
Faults: Fault animals for having faded color, scattered white hairs, or
a light undercolor.
LILAC: The surface color is to be dove-gray with a pinkish tint over
the entire animal and extending well down the hair shaft. The undercolor is
to be a pale dove-gray. Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals for having faded color or scattered white hairs.
WHITE, BLUE EYED (BEW): The surface and the undercolor is to be pure
white over the entire animals. Eyes - Brilliant Blue.
Faults: Fault animals with a creamy, yellow, or stained fur.
SEAL: Color is to be a very dark sepia (almost black) on the face,
ears, saddle, feet, and tail. Body wool is to shade only slightly to a dark
sepia on the flanks, chest and belly. Eyes - Brown. Ruby cast permissible.
Disqualifications from Competition - Lack of discernible shading.
TORTOISE (Chocolate and Lilac shading colors): Chocolate color is to
have a clean bright orange on the saddle. Lilac color is to have fawn on the
saddle, with all varieties blending into a shading of darker color over the
lower rump and haunches. The top color is to carry down and blend into a dark
cream undercolor next to the skin. Top of the tail is to match body color.
Underside of the tail is to match shadings as near as possible. Shading on
the head is darkest at the whisker bed, blending into a lighter shade along
the jaw line, and darkening again at the ear base, blending up the ears to
match body color. Eyes - Chocolate to be Brown. Lilac to be blue-gray.
Faults: Stray white hairs; smut or ticking in the orange; lack of bold
shadings; underside of tail light in color.
Disqualifications from Competition - White belly or white tail.
LYNX: The surface color on the top and sides of the body is to be lilac
mingled with fawn. The intermediary band is to be fawn over an off-white undercolor.
The chest is to be fawn over an off-white undercolor. The undercolor of the
belly is to be lilac. The top of the tail is to be lilac, sparsely ticked
with fawn, over an off-white undercolor. The nape of the neck is to be fawn.
Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals lacking the lilac influence in the surface color,
so as to appear fawn. The lack of a distinct intermediary band is undesirable.
OPAL: The surface color on the top and side of the body is to be blue
mingled with fawn. The intermediary band is to be fawn over a mediam slate-blue
undercolor. The chest is to be fawn over a mediam slate-blue undercolor. The
undercolor of the belly is to be slate blue. The top of the tail is to be
blue, sparsely ticked with fawn, over a medium slate-blue undercolor. The
nape of the neck is to be fawn. Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals that have light color on the surface, in the intermediary
band, or in the undercolor.
CHOCOLATE AGOUTI: The surface color on the top and sides of the body
is to be a rich chestnut brown, ticked with chocolate tipped guard hairs.
The intermediate band is to be tan over a dove-gray undercolor. The chest
is to be a light brown over a dove-gray undercolor. The top of the tail is
to be chocolate, sparsely ticked with tan, over a dove-gray undercolor. The
nape of the neck is to be tan, with the ears laced in chocolate. Eyes -- Brown
Faults: Fault animals that are too light or too dark in surface color,
or too light in the color of the intermediary band or undercolor.
FAWN: The surface color of the body is to be a creamy orange color,
extending well down the hair shaft, and carried uniformly over the head, outside
of the ears, front of the forelegs, outside of the hind legs, and the top
of the tail. The undercolor is to be off-white. The surface color of the belly
(except for the fawn lap spots), back of the forelegs, inside of the hindlegs,
top of hind feet, and underside of lower jaw is to be white with an off-white
undercolor. The underside of the tail and around the vent is to be white to
the skin. The inside of the ears are to be white, while the nostrils and eye
circles are to be creamy white. Eyes - blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals with smutty color showing blue or lilac ticking and
ear lacing.
FROSTY: Color is to be light pearl, as even as possible. When blowing
into the coat, a slight ring may appear at the tip of the hair shaft. Slightly
darker tint on nose, ears, legs, and feet is permissible. Belly color and
undercolor is to be light pearl to white. White on the underside of the tail
is permitted. Eyes - Brown or Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault for color that is blotchy, too dark in color and showing
saddle shading; yellow or stained.
RED (the non-agouti variety): The color is to be fiery, brilliant red,
as uniformly carried over the body as possible. Color must be carried well
down the hair shaft to the skin. Belly color may be slightly lighter in shade.
Underside of tail and eye circles may be a lighter shade of red. Eyes - Dark
brown.
Faults: Lack of intensity and brilliance; extremely light belly color;
light toenails.
RED: Color is to be a bright reddish sorrel, but not
so dark as to reach a mahogany red. Color shall carry as deep down the hair
shaft as possible. The belly color may be somewhat lighter in shade, approaching
a deep creamy cast. White on the underside of the tail is permitted. Eyes
- Brown.
Faults: Light or dark ticking, when sufficient to produce a frosty or smudgy
effect; white belly; white eye circles; stray white hairs.
